Boxercise is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Classes can take a variety of formats but a typical one may involve shadow-boxing, skipping, hitting pads, kicking punchbags, press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups. Most boxercise classes are aimed at men and women of all ages and fitness standards. As no class involves the physical hitting of an opponent, it is a fun, challenging and safe workout.
Circuit training is a very versatile and adaptable mode of interval training that requires the performance of a series of carefully selected exercises. The intervals can vary from 20 - 60 seconds of work and could a few rounds or only 1 with rests in between. The exercises chosen can be used to develop specific components of fitness e.g. speed, strength. They can also be adapted to suit a wide range of fitness levels. The benefits of circuit training include improvement in overall fitness, assist with weight and stress management and improve well-being, self-esteem and physical appearance.
A FITNESS class based around using kettlebells with dramatic results is being introduced to the general public and companies.
Like boxercise is an adaptation of boxing, Kettlercise is basically a 50-minute workout using 37 different kettlebell exercises and the bloodshunting method which increases the metabolic rate.
It is an intense session in terms of the volume and repetitions of exercises but uses a lighter kettlebell than a normal session.
"A lot of women are put off using kettlebells because of how they look and feel and exercises were not tailored for out and out weight loss.
"Kettlercise is all about stripping body fat not about muscle size."
All classes are £6 to drop in or buy a block of 6 for £28 or a block of 12 for £55.
